The Round House, Bletchley

This project is a replacement dwelling for an existing farmhouse and collection of outbuildings set in its own wooded landscape in a wheatfield landscape, remote from the local village down a gated farm track.

However, the clients appointed us specifically to take on board some of the exceptional architecture that we have achieved through a number of our Paragraph 79 projects and so the challenge was set.

Based on an organic form the house’s shape is curvilinear in plan and partly in section and consists of a number of components brought together to make up the whole.  Walls are vertical composite prefabricated panels and clad in blackened timber which will blend in with its surroundings and the local vernacular, where many rural buildings are clad in blackened timber.

This house is going to be spectacular in its wooded rural setting.
