The Place is a multi-award-winning arts centre and office development designed by Kevin whilst Design Partner with Reid Jubb Brown Architects.
The project was a collaborative effort between Arup Engineers, the Sunniside Partnership and artists Kathryn Hodgkinson and Lightfolio.
The project combines business starter units in a series of linked, listed buildings together with an art gallery and café which spills out onto the street in front of the facility.
The main feature of the building is on the principle south façade where a protective screen of vertical rotating glass louvres help create a strong identity for the project with a contemporary design inserted into the historic Sunniside quarter of Sunderland city centre.
