Grand Cottage, Leicestershire

This project is for another Paragraph 79 house on the edge of a rural village and has been designed in collaboration with Illman Young Landscape Architects with design reviews carried out through the Traditional Architecture Group prior to submission for Planning.

The house takes its references from the local vernacular in the village and also interventions made by Lutyens at the nearby, and sadly now-demolished Papillion Hall.

Built in local brick and stone it is a Grand Cottage in the true sense, and a reinterpretation of the Arts and Crafts tradition typical for its location. The house is based around a series of linked courtyards and gardens, and is focused around a stone tower which forms the main stair and feature.
