This project was for Edinburgh University and effectively involved wrapping an old, rather brutal 1970’s sports hall building with new support accommodation, a new 25m pool and specialist Sports Laboratories, teaching spaces and offices. The proposal was to create a new Hub that would allow the University to market their specialist Sports Development facilities as a business.
New support spaces link through to the existing building in key locations to make circulation through the old brutal concrete sports halls much more direct and accessible.
The new building had to create a formal frontage to the street to make up for the previous building’s failings and is located close to the Scottish Parliament.
